The Czech Governmental Council for Road Safety is an advisory and co-ordinating body of the Czech Government on roas safety issues. It has been established by the decision of the Czech Government in 2004. Its members are representatives of the ministries concerned (e.g. Transport, Interior, Health, Education, Finance, Environment, Defence), Police and NGOs. The Council is chaired by the Minister of Transport and must meet at least twice a year. The Council can create ad hoc Working Parties and Commitees. The work of the Council is technically supported by the secretariat with is an integral part of the Road Safety Department of the Ministry of Transport. The Council itself has no budget and can publish only recommendations.
