Basic Facts – “Top Ten” Road Accidents Since 1993 To 2008

  • Most of road accidents were in 1999 -  225 690 road accidents;
  • Most of persons killed were in 1994 - 1 473 persons killed;
  • In 1993 in every 112nd  road accident a person was killed (the worst year);
  • Year 1993 was the best year with regards to number of road accidents - 152 157 road accidents;
  • Year 2006 was the best year with regards to number of persons killed - 956 persons killed;
  • In 2006 in every 197th road traffic accident a person was killed (the best year).

 

Implementation of the National Road Safety Strategy – State of Art to the 1st  January 2009

In 2004 the Czech Government approved the National Road Safety Strategy with the target to cut number of person killed by 50 % of data of 2002 up to 2010. The target of the Strategy is fully in line with the target of the EU Action Programme on Road Safety. In reality of the Czech Republic the target means to have less than 657 persons killed up to 24 hours after an accidents and to have less than 716 persons killed up to 30 days after an accidents.
